install Redux without rooting

Hi all,

is it possible to install Redux ROM without rooting? Like download Redux-v1.2-themed-signed.zip, copy in SD card, rename it to PB99IMG.zip, resrart phone, select recovery and start the procedure?

You have to root to flash anything non-standard

Anyway, if you are worried about your warranty this would still void it, if it were possible.

yes, I was concerned about warranty. Got my desire repaired and returned (changed motheboard) just a few days before when my desire was FUBARed

Ultimately if you have the RUU for your handset you'll be fine as you can always revert back to stock for warranty purposes

Providing the phone will stay booted long enough for the RUU to flash the relevant images...

Yeah, like SUroot pointed out, my mate rooted and flashed a custom rom on his phone and then killed his screen completely somehow and couldn't figure out how to flash back to stock RUU so he took it back to the carrier and they said that the software had been modded and was therefore out of warranty

That should be fixable but it can be quite an effort.

Mmm I figured as much, he ended up just threatening to go to the ombudsman and the provider caved in, they're all frightened shitless of the almighty ombudsman here in Aus
