Root Installed Revolution HD 5.1.10

Well after some much thought I when ahead and rooted my phone. I have been considering it for a little while now and after reading a few posted recently from some of you guys it inspired me to bite the bullet and go for it.​

I followed El Presidente’s guide http://androidforums.com/desire-hd-all-things-root/354749-how-root-install-custom-rom-desire-hd.html

and everything went very smoothly indeed ​

The downgrade process went fine with no hiccups at all. The Rooting , S-OFF and Engineering S-OFF where all very easy thanks to the One click Radio S-OFF tool and the One click ENG S-Off tool by jkoljo over on XDA.​

Next Installing ROM Manager & Clockwork again very simple using El Presidente’s guide everything went as it should.​

Now on to the fun part what ROM first? I wasn’t sure which ROM to choose first but knew I wanted one that was really close to stock so ended up going for ARHD 5.1.10, plus I liked the sound of it.​

As I’ve said I went for Android Revolution HD 5.1.10 because I wanted a ROM that was very close to the original look and this ROM is certainly that. I also flashed the recommend Radio for this ROM and everything went without a problem. Very happy. So my first impression of this ROM was how fast and snappy everything feels, I’m very impressed with the speed. I’ve had no crashes yet but have only been using it for 2 days so will update once I have used it for a while. The battery seems a bit better, but if Im honest not by a huge amount but considering the cpu is o/c’d I think it’s awesome.​

I haven’t really had much time to customise it so far and the only things Ive added are:​

Sense 3.0 All in one pack – This is awesome and looks really really good. It performs very well with no problems what so ever.​

BIOS bootanimation OC 1228 (kernel @ 1228 MHz) from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=947688 again this looks amazing really like the look of it. Only thing is it will make to turn your phone on and off a lot to watch it ​

CRT Screen on/off Anamation – This looks really good ​

I also wanted % of battery shown so also installed this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=894837

I am very pleased so far with the way the phone performs and looks and am very happy I have carried this out. So if you’re considering flashing your phone with any ROM go ahead you won’t regret it ​

I haven't had much time to really put apps/widget on home screens yet, because I'm busy studying for exams, but I'll get around to it soon.

Flashing the radio is just as easy as flashing the rom, but it is done differently. The instructions in the zip file for it are very easy to follow... doesn't seem risky at all. I think it's optional to flash the radio, just better if you do flash it. Don't take my word for it though, I'm still new at this

You do actually risk bricking your phone when flashing radios... that is if you loose power whilst doing it... somehting to do with loosing power when flashing via fastboot. It shouldn't be a problem though, as I would ALWAYS make sure that I was fully charged before doing anything like that!

When you flashed the new radio, was it as easy as flashhing a new ROM? I ask, as I know that this can be the point where you can brick your phone... I know that loads of people will have done it, but I haven't and just want your feedback!

Nice one... think will haev to give it a go... like I said, I wanna give each ROM a good month to six weeks, rather than keep changing it... that way I can decide which one is best for me.

Perhaps it's time for a change!!

Will check that link out... as for you and changing... I know you're only just on ARHD, but if you do a full backup of your current system by CWM, then you can revert back if you don't like the new ROM you flashed!

I think it's an option in ROM manager... backup current rom (or something like that at least)... it makes a full backup of the ROM - ALWAYS worth doing before you flash a new ROM, incase something goes wrong, you can then reflash what you had before... also useful if you don't like the new ROM you put on!!

EDIT - can't check exactly what it is, as I left my phone at home today!!

Thought I'd heard that too... couldn't remember if it was in CWM or ROM Manager - was gonna check when I looked on my phone at home thanks for clarification though!!

So happy to see this thread. I rooted my HTC Inspire the other day and flashed ARHD 5.1.10. I was wanting to flash the Elegant Blue theme as well (seen here: [THEME] Elegant Blues for Sense ROM`s - xda-developers), but stopped when I saw this warning: "IMPORTANT: If you are on stock ROM or not on a 2.2.1 and 1.72 based ROM (see system info in settings) , don`t flash this theme!" I'm new to all of this, but as far as I can tell I have 2.3.3 and no idea what the 1.72 refers to. Is there an updated version of Elegant Blue, or am I missing something? Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

on your home screen select:

menu=>settings=>about phone

Should be able to tell your version from there!

Thank you both! I found the updated dl link from May 16th, and will attempt to install this theme later this week. It's my first time to install a theme, so hopefully it goes alright. From what yall have said, it sounds like ROM Manager is not the best idea, so I will copy the theme to my SD card, then install it from recovery.

As per El P's post (about ten posts up), boot in to recovery and backup from there.

Not sure on second point, as haven't flashed a theme, but if you back up and then have a problem, just restore your backup!

As long as you take a backup of your current setup in CWM, it's cool. Having used both though, I'd recommend Honeysense over Elegant Blue.

Just for my own knowledge, the Inspire is the US, 4G variant of the DHD and the Ace is the version we have over in the UK.
