Root Installing a custom ROM...

Once I root my Epic, I want to double check on how to install a custom ROM. I want to install a custom ROM based on DK28...

I just recently did the manual install of the leaked Froyo a few days ago. So, I don't need to use Odin to flash the lastest DK28 Modem, right?

So, all I need to do is wipe data 3 times, and wipe the cache 3 times, and then install the ROM? Is it really that easy?

By the way, I am thinking of installing the Quantum ROM...

Do you have the link to the DK28 install you used? I am guessing it was the stock which upgrades the modem and such. If that is the case than flashing a ROM should be pretty simple.

If you go to Settings > About Phone > Baseband version it should say DK28 at the end.

If this is the case, it is a matter of you downloading the .zip file from Quantum ROM's page. Once you download it, hook your phone up to the computer, put it in storage mode, and move the zip file from your computer to your SD card.

Turn your phone off and let it sit for about 20-30 seconds to make sure it is completely shut off. Hold down the lower volume button, the camera button, and then the power button. This should bring you to a screen with green writing.

Once there, clear the stuff you mentioned 3 times each. Don't forget the dverik or whatever the name is. You need to clear that 3 times as well.

Than go to "install zip from sd". Find the Quantum zip and click on it. Give it about 10 minutes or so and you should be quantum flashed.

I am not responsible if you mess up your phone, but I will try and help if you have questions.

I did a manual install of Froyo. I used the leaked version that was here on the phandroid front page from a few days ago, using their instructions. It was super easy to do.

It does say DK28 in settings.

I don't need root access to do this?

The easiest way for me was actually after I flashed stock to wait for the offcial ota but got bored so I rooted DI18 nandroid back up and flashed dk28 based quantum 2.1 which is over at xda

ah ok, that's exactly what i want to do, is end up with dk28 Quantum. when i look at Quantum at xda, it says it requires the dk28 modem already installed, and that is where i'm stuck. i'm rooted on stock di18, and i tried flashing stock 2.2 dk28 but i got an error.

i was doing it using zip in clockwork recovery mode.

thats a method im not sure about to me it feels a lil safer to flash the dk28 modem with odin you can find the file over at xda if you search ACS Dk28 if your not familiar with the process just ask i might be able to help you through it
