Installing a new Rom on an already Rooted phone?

So I have an Optimus S that's rooted but running the Stock Rom. (2.3 I think). Anyway, I'm looking to install something else as I've had nothing but GPS problems since Sprint pushed out the update from Froyo to Gingerbread.

I'm looking for some guidance as to where to start since most of the threads start with rooting which I've already done and I don't want to mess anything up.

Also, what would a good Rom to use? Do the ICS based Roms have any performance hit (or increase) on the phone at all?

Thanks for any help.

Do you have a custom recovery?
My phone is a zvj running hydrorom. Its overclockable and hasn't given me any problems.

I honestly have no idea. I was probably prompted to make one when I rooted the phone but that was a long time ago. heh.

Turn yer phone off. Then hold the vol-, the home key and the power button. Then tell me what you see.

Great! Do you know what rom you would like to use?

No, not really. Just wanted to try something else to see if it would fix the problems we're currently having with the phone. Does flashing a new row remove everything from the phone or will all the apps and such still be there?

I'd be fine with CM7 or CM9 if it's compatible. Only mentioning those because I've heard of them. Don't know the difference between one Rom and another. heh heh.

Can I just flash a new Rom any time I want to so I can try things out and see what I like?

Yes, flashing a new rom removes all the apps and stuff from the phone but not the sd card.
ALWAYS MAKE A BACK UP before you flash a new rom. Do that in the xionia recovery. When you find a rom you want to try read the instructions on flashing. If there is none...
download the rom and put it on the root of your sd card
Boot into xionia recovery
make a backup
Wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
Go to advanced, wipe dalvik cache
install zip from sd card
choose zip
flash
and reboot system.

Backup your apps you want with titainium backup. Its on the playstore.

OK, so where do I find the latest version of HydroRom? It seems to have good reviews but the links I find go to a site that doesn't work any more. heh heh.
