[ROM][ICS]Bezke_XXLP1_UltraICS_1.3 - AVAILABLE-01.14.2012. - xda-developers

my question is that i don't know where to start. on that thread i read the how to install. it said i need to be rooted. i am running 2.3.6 gingerbread atm not rooted. anyone want to give me a step by step help?

Check out this thread for how to root:

a few question. i have found the insecure kernal for 2.3.6 XWKK5. my current gingerbread. with that i can root my phone. so my rooting problem is then solved.

after that i am unsure what are the appropriate step to install the custom rom from bezke ICS rom. and what is the best way to back up?

thank you quick response. gave thanks.

I dont know where to download this rom but I would think where you download it from, there should be instructions

i've downloaded the rom. i just unsure of the proceedure it listed on the "HOW TO INSTALL" because it is unfamiliar and with some typos.

What is it about the Bezke version that you want that you can't find in the Official Samsung Beta of ICS? Bezke is based on XXLP2 and doesn't need root, you can root it if you want but it doesn't actually need it.

Instructions on their page look ok :
How to install: NO WIPE!
0. Root your phone / with cf root kernel/
1. copy downloaded zip to internal sd
2. Go to recowery wipe cache - dalvik cache
3. In recowery install zip from internal sd....
4. Reboot and wait 2-3 minute...

ie:
0. Root your phone as per ironass' first class guide
1. copy the .zip file of the rom you downloaded onto your phone's internal card. Do this on your PC and copy using windows etc. As by this stage you would have been rooted, then Kies will have been installed, so copying between PC and handset will be straight forward.
2. power off your phone, boot up into CWM recovery (hold vol-up+home+power until you see the screen turn on then let go). select options to wipe cache and wipe dalvik cache (the latter is in the advanced menu)
3. follow the menus to install a zip from sdcard then navigate to where you copied your zip and select it.

job done

thank you hawker, your instruction is very straightforward and i will start this procedure when my girlfriend stop playing games on my phone. i understand everything now, just one question about backing up as i never done it. i do this via kies?

Since you are rooted, download TI Backup from Market and backup using that app. Kies won't do a good job!!

thanks sword fish and hawker i will try this tonight. and give the results.

and bezke rom is ICS themed without TW, i want to try it and its a good opportunity for me to try flashin custom roms and go for rooting. i have been checking samfirmware and they have pretty nice leaks but it include TW by samsung so i just want to try the bezke because of the good review from CM9 and aosp as well.

You can put any launcher on top of your rom. I use AWD so I don't have to use TW. I installed XXLP2 and it is pretty stable.

Yes, interal_sd is phone memory.
