Installing new micro sd card in Hero-advice

Hi,first post here, great forum by the way,
I have a 16gb micro sd for my Hero on Orange, have read here that syncing software is loaded on the sd card so will replacing the card stop the sync operations?
many thanks in anticipation

Nope, it's just the installation file for HTCSync that's loaded on the SD card. Once you've installed the software onto your PC you're good to go. All the clever sync-stuff on the phone is in the OS.

so let me get this clear, i need to install the software on desktop before putting in a new sd card?

do i need to install this software on desktop? i dont use microsoft outlook - is it only for this?

if i dont need it can i put in sd card without doing anything else?

im new to smartphones/android!

You can always re-download it from HTC's website if you need it.

It has a few other functions as well as sync'ing with Outlook:

HTC Sync Upgrade for HTC Hero

Just noticed that HTC Sync is not supported with XP service pack 3. Does anyone know if there is a version or update that is compatible? This would probably explain why I've had so many problems syncing up my phone.

Thanks,
Will
