Root installing Older Samsung apps under SC2.4/Voodoo

Hi all -

I recently upgraded to SC2.4 but find that I miss some of the old apps that came on the phone originally, specifically the native alarm clock. I've copied the ClockPackage.apk, DualClock.apk, and DualClock2.apk (along with the associated .odex files) to System\App, but it doesn't appear to allow me to run the installs. What am I missing here?

Thx!

Mike

I'll try that momentarily....I'm hoping that will also refresh the contents of the system\media\ringtones folder as I copied some older ringtones there as well and, while they play via Root Explorer, no joy adding them in the alarm clock app. :(

well, the media files showed up, but the apps still won't install. suggestions?

I'm not completely sure this is correct, but as far as I know, you can't run an odex app with a deodexed system, even if you copy the odex file. You would need a deodexed version of the app.

Again, take this with a grain of salt, and hopefully Nitsuj, Saps, or one of the other experts will give you a more definitive answer.

thx seanatsb....I also vaguely remember about having to add things to \system\app via ADB or from CWM before they'd work.

Good point. I'm going to edit above. I just installed the deodexed calculator using CWM by flashing the zip, and it worked. So there was no compatability issues with Froyo.
