Help Installing on external memory..?

Hi,
I am using android2.1 , can we install applications on external memory card ?

I googled, found result as its possible on android2.2 , Is it possible on 2.1 ?

Nope its not possible as far as im aware on posible on 2.2, If im wrong somone please correct me,

It is possible !
I did it with "app2sd".
There are several tutorials around.

i've tried nearly every guide i could find on this but whenever i format the sd card my phone stops recognising the sd card and says it needs to be formatted. help?

you need to partition the card.. like you would a hard disk on your pc...

Apps2SD needs one partition, the "normal" apps keep you music etc on the other partition.
