Help Installing stock browser in one.three

Over on the XDA forum, I downloaded the stock browser for gingerbread 2.3.4. I used ES explorer to copy the apk to the system/apps folder. I changed the permissions to rw-r-r. The browser icon does not show up in the app drawer and if I click on it in the ES explorer, it tries to install, which of course fails.

What am I doing wrong? What do I need to do to get the stock web browser on my phone?

what motorhead said.

i've had the same problem when deleting stock apps and then trying to copy them over and reinstall them. they always fail to reinstall.

after reboot they work just fine.

I still am unable to get the stock browser working. I don't see it listed in the app drawer or in link2sd. I have placed it in the proper directory and have tried rebooting. Any ideas?

for neutron.rar

i'm uploading the browser from my phone and the browser.odex file

i'm also uploading the file explorer that i use with it in a .rar

use the included file explorer (better than es and root explorer) and copy both the browser.apk and the browser.odex into /system/app and when it tries to install "cancel" it.

make sure that both files are in the /system/app folder, exit the file explorer, and then reboot your phone.

when you remove a stock app and then try to put it back, you can't install it. it will always fail to install (at least in my experience with all the stock apps that i've removed and tried to put back). it will never complete the install but when you reboot the phone it will be installed and working (again at least for me).

the only app that i've had similar issues with is the stock email app that is required for the camera to run (for whatever reason) but when done this way it will be installed and working just fine.

if this doesn't work for you then i'm not sure what you should do...

Just like to add- Ive had the same problem with Maps. I was wondering, could you use TiB to pull it from a nandroid? Would that actually put it in place?
