Installing the OTA 2.1 file

now that leaked ota file i used its in my astro can i delete it now so i can free up space?

Yes you can if you want to it isn't needed anymore...you may want to save it to your computer or something in case you need to reset your phone or something..

So downloaded the update and installing as I type. It's at the "Deleting files.." part so I'll let you guys know when this finishes.

Hey all,
Wow. First of all, you're all amazing how you worked to figure this out. I've been reading this thread all morning and waiting for it to be figured out, debugged, what have you. I sincerely appreciate all your hard work since I don't have the time/guts/knowhow to do any of it myself. BIG THANKS!

A few posts mentioned some lost data. Specifically connections to Facebook and the like. Before I finally take the plunge and do this update, I just want to confirm what I think I understand:

After doing this update, some data from the cloud (Facebook, pictures in the People app, maybe some others) disappears, but comes back within about 15 minutes. Is that correct? I have a backup of all my stuff thanks to an App I bought (MY backup Prop I think) so assume I can recover from there if need be, but is there any other noticed loss of data or anything I should be wary of, or is everything seeming to come back?

Again, much thanks to all who worked on this and for answering this question.

this actually brings up an interesting question, if you want to factory reset your phone, what happens...?

How did you figure this out??????

I'm good like that.... been doing this for a while now. I take no credit for the app but im very resourceful :p

Let me know if you like it... I have some more goodies for non root users... maybe, who knows???? :P

How do you figure? The Eris was never "rooted", a leaked developer image was released giving root.

With anyone that did OTA still having HBOOT untouched (the ppl who used leak are all at 1.49) they can still use the procedure to allow access to the program "su" (superuser), effectively giving them "root" access on their phone.

Alright well everything installed successfully. Took about 8 or so minutes. It rebooted and is now at the home screen loading.

I have 3G and all 4 bars. Only problem now is my home screen configuration is gone but thats ok.

So update from stock 1.5 to the OTA was success! No problems.

Thanks for getting this out! Needed the navigation for a trip tomorrow.

Good question! Anyone know?

Interesting thing..when I had the pb00img on my sd, when I pressed power + down it didn't give me a choice except for hboot.

I took the pb00img off my sd, then power+down, and it had the option of fastboot or recovery, except neither work.

:(

I feel helpless.

you still havent answered the question as to whether or not you installed any of the 2.1 leaks (v1,v2,v3) on your phone. as soon as you do that, we can help you figure it out.

i tried this earlier.. it works. i've been running this for almost three hours now. no errors. no FCs. THANK YOU!

Same thing here, tried with Mobile Network on and off, but clicking the weather crashes, then goes to a black screen, then back to the home screen.

This isn't a big deal to me, but sometimes when I try to open the notification bar, I'll accidentally click the clock itself, which doesn't crash when you click it (thank god).

Had the same problem with my weather app and calendar. I didn't have much on my phone, so I just did a factory reset on the phone after updating and everything is working fine now.

I'm still unsure. Please bare with me.
I did the all in one script http://androidforums.com/all-things-root-eris/53963-guide-stock-1-5-latest-root-2-1-a.html that is here.

The rooted rom was called

eris21official-root.zip

Just found some info. It was a root rom based on 2.1 leak v2

yeah, just read up on it too, since it's based on the leak, you won't be able to do it straight from root, however, you may be able to downgrade to 1.5 depending on the rom? i'm not sure...

if you can, you should be able to install the official ota from it

Okay, well I guess I will find the stickied thread with the tutorial for downgrading..

Sucks that I lost root, it would probably come in handy right now, w/ the recovery partition.
