Help insufficient memory

When I try to do my app updates I keep getting an error that says insufficient memory. How do I fix this? I tried restarting but still got the same error. Thanks for any help

Applications 2.71 GB
Audio 389 MB
Downloads:60.39 MB
Miscellaneous files 4.21 GB
Available space: 3.70 GB

Then my SD card has 10.45 GB available space
 
You are low on RAM (memory) not storage (SD card). You might need to get rid of apps you don't use to update your other apps. But before you try that go to Settings > Applications manager. Select the apps that uses a lot of memory and you're not currently using, then hit "force stop". Try to update. If you still don't have enough memory, stop more apps. Then try again. If you successfully updated, reboot to load the apps you've stopped. If all else has failed then you just have to uninstall apps you don't use.

Now sure how to tell how much ram each app is using. Is it the number of MB listed after the title when I open Application Manager and go to "running"?

This has noothing to do with RAM.
 
How big are the updates? This error usually indicates inadequate internal storage space to apply the update. But you still need adequate internal storage space to have the device run properly.
 
I've seen insufficient storage warning, but have yet to see insufficient memory. :)
