Help Insufficient storage?

I'm rather confused right now. I keep getting an error on my phone that says I have insufficient memory space. This is what I have as of the moment:

Applications: 198 MB
Audio: 20.00 KB
Downloads: 252 KB
Misc: 86.00 KB
__________________
Total: 200.66 MB

It's telling me that I've used up 1.92 GB! My total space is 2 GB. I'm running my Samsung Galaxy Reverb on the 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Update.

I just factory restored my phone last night. I only installed 6 apps on it since then, and this morning, I woke up to the same error. Could the Jelly Bean update have added so much bloatware that it messed with my storage, or is it a known bug that is being worked on?

I've been looking for a solution for about a week now, and nothing seems to be working. I cannot move apps to the SD card, since the Reverb does not support that option, and none of them will move with the apps2sd app. Can anyone help me?
 
Do you have root access?

Sometimes the odex file for an app that was removed will stick around, and off you try to reinstall that app, the offending odex file will trick the installer into thinking there isn't room for it because there is already something in the place it is trying to install to.

There are also a few other tricks you can try if you've got root access.

Do you use any backup/tools programs such as Titanium Backup?

Does the error message appear when you try to install any app, or just some apps?

And are you talking about memory, or storage?

I've been thinking of rooting my phone, but I'm not very tech savvy when it comes to my phone, and I'm afraid I'll mess something up.

I get the error message whenever I try to install any apps. It even won't let me update apps I already have installed.

I'm talking about the storage, but the RAM is rather high as well. It says I'm using 438.68 MB and only have 146.13 MB free.
 
So I'm having the same problem, except mine is rooted. When I try to view the files in TiBU, it gets caught in a loop.

Apps = 478MB
Media = 303MB
Audio = 116kb
Downloads = 39.93MB
Miscellaneous = 83.74MB
Total Space Used = 904.79MB
Total Space = 1.96GB

App manager and TiBU both say 2.1GB used of 2.1GB

So anyone have any ideas?

Have you checked out the size of System Data which is the space taken up by files outside of the special sdcard directory? You can checked it out using DiskUsage.

Mine once had around 600MB.
 
It isn't letting me install anything, even though I have deleted some larger apps to make some space. It still says 'insufficient storage available' despite the fact that its like a 156kb app...

Tried to install DiskUsage but it was a no go
 
I had (and am now having again) the same problem. The only way I was able to solve it was by doing a factory reset, which wipes the phone clean. It worked for about 3 months but now I'm having the same problem again. I have 1 small app installed and 0 music, movies, etc. Hate this phone!

How did you get such a clean screenshot for your post? I'm having the same problem, d/l'ed the app and ran it. Now I'd like to post my results.
 
Just curious. Do you guys watch movies on Netflix or video clips on YouTube a lot? One time after I watched one TV episode on Netflix and around 10 short clips on YouTube, I lost around 300MB. So, no more Netflix and YouTube for me on this phone. Some weather widgets accumulate huge amount of data in System Data also. So do game backups.

Pressing the power and the home button together should take a screenshot. It's hard at first, but you'll get the hang of it.

In my case, I use Screenshot ER. Kind of cheating. :p

I don't do anything except calls, texts, surf the net, and I have Decked Builder installed. No movies, music, youtube, google books, or anything of that nature.
 
By the way, I installed DiskUsage on my Reverb that was having storage space issues. As soon as I ran DiskUsage and it came back saying that I should have something like 1.5gb free, my phone instantly stopped giving me the low memory message. I don't know why, but it was like my phone went, "Opps! You caught me! I'll behave now."
 
My SO's phone had a constant low space notification, to the point where they couldn't get picture messages open, view the gallery app. I would like to thank those that mentioned Disk Usage. I downloaded and opened the app (I had to delete some apps first, but I brought them back after). Disk Usage allows you to see the files, their subfolders , it allows you to open the files from its interface and best off all, it allows you delete the offending files. In my SO's case, the offending files were videos. Some where recognized as having been viewed long ago. Others may have been part of bloatware. Worst of all the videos appear to have been stored by Samsung Media Hub IN HD, SD formats. 1GB of space was reclaimed, I kid you not.
