Insurance Options for Xoom

Companies make big money on getting insurance. High percentage don't actually need them. Tabs, like computers -- if they're going to break, it's usually very early. You'll get covered under the default warranty.

After that, just be careful. Not to belittle anyone who gets insurance but its a waste :)

And to someone who said, "you're paying top dollar for a tab, what's an extra 120" -- hmm. That makes no sense.

I agree with this for the most part - generally speaking, extended warranties are a waste of money. However, in the past I have gotten a lot of use out of extended warranties on my laptop (it experienced more than its fair share of spilled drinks). So I dropped the $120 on the BB warranty for the Xoom. Because it is so mobile, I could easily see it slipping out of my hands, being bumped off of a table, etc., and don't want to be out $800. Especially since the portfolio case seems so flimsy, but that's another topic.

Fair enough. As long as you agree with me, mostly ;) .

i have allstate. they could add it on the policy. it is covered if its lost/fire, etc.

I have Erie Insurance with a $1000 homeowners deductible. It is covered under that - if it was lost or stolen but obviously the deductible makes it irrelevant.

I pay $6/month for insurance on my Droid Incredible but suppose I will fly solo with my Xoom.

I bought the 10/month Verizon insurance when I first got mine. Got it straight from them so didn't go through BB or Costco. I figured I wanted it insured for the first month at least while I examine my options. Sounds like it's either Verizon or Squaretrade for me. I'll have to do more to compare the two before my first month is up.
