Insurance, root?

So yesterday my dumbass dropped my phone on a Rite Aid. Cracked the screen (my first time in almost 4 years of Android) I can't bear to look at my beautiful phone but my question is will it matter if I send this back to the insurance company rooted. I'll probably put a stock ROM on here but Do I need to return it to stock? I know I do for warranty but this will be a insurance claim. Any and all help is appreciated.
 
I would reset flash count and fully restore it to factory stock non rooted if possible. I would even do a factory reset on it (not giving them my information that I keep on my phone). If I couldn't do that (busted usb port etc), I would make sure it is truly broken... ;)
 
Thanks. I saw the tutorial for return to stock. Looks fine except for step 4. I'm not familiar with checking md5 sums and what not. How Do I get that into the Pda slot on odin
 
The file is compressed with 7-zip you need to get that and unzip it. You will then have the md5 file to put in the pda slot on desktop Odin..
 
so when i run Odin im just loading the md5 into the pda slot. thats what im flashing?
I guess what im asking is is there a rom in that md5 sum. Im currently on slim bean. So first i need to flash a GB modem right? then step one on that tutorial? but after flashing the md5 in odin it doesnt give any instruction but "start" so i assume i reboot and im stock? like it says have kies installed which i do but it doesnt mention using kies, would you reccomend flashing a TW JB rom and getting off aosp before doing this. i imagine if i leave the fl24 ics modem i have on here now im gonna bootloop with no recovery to do anything about it.
 
No this is the complete rom it does not need you to flash a modem or anything. Your phone has to be in download mode. get yourself 7-zip and unzip the file you downloaded. the file has an md5 checksum in it but the file is a full ROM. Just follow the instructions.
 
so just to make sure, i do not need to flash gco1 modem if im on a ICS modem now? im just so used to factoring that in i cant believe it. i know for a TW JB rom i need GCO1, but youre saying i can restore to stock using that method without flashing a JB modem like GCO1?
 
This is an ICS ROM. It is the original build boost came with which is FG31. It is a COMPLETE ROM this is not a CWM type flash this is done via ODIN and you will have an unrooted phone.
 
sorry i forgot. Thanks for your help. since it seems easy enough ill give it a shot. im a little pissed though because when i origionally started my claim on tuesday night i was told id be getting a galaxy s3 because they were out od s2's. now today they magically have s2's back in stop. but oh well, at least ill have a full screen again lol.
 
My sg3 or 4 yearnings have been completely squelched and squashed bc of ProjectX by Bilgerryan. His newest is ParadoX and is awesome as well. Not sure if you are even looking to flash another custom rom people like to mix it up , and have heard nothing but positives bout your current rom-but just wanted to share my limited experience . Call me crazy, but its like I would consider any phone once Doc made a mention and turned me on to Project X. Anyway, happy screen fix to you !

Im kinda feeling 4.2.2 AOSP more than 4.1.2 touchwiz at the moment. i noticed a nice looking TW Rom on XDA today but I'm loving slim bean too much to go to anything besides AOSP right now. Everything, and i do mean EVERYTHING I USE WORKS. 4G, pic messaging, voice to text, DashClock, Lock Screen Widgets, camcorder etc. And it has working PIE, Panorama and the camera seems to be sharper to me than the stock TW one. (that could be all in my head lol) But im really only interested in AOSP right now. I do appreciate the recommendation as im always looking for new roms. You find a nice stable 4.2.2. rom, do let me know. eventually ill go back to TW, but for now im happy with 4.2.2 My replacement phone was TW for about a half hour lol, i recieved my replacement saturday b/c i overnighted it, didnt even turn it on but plugged it up to the charger, restored my broken g2 to stock (WHICH IS THE EASIEST RETURN TO STOCK IMAGINABLE), turned on the new g2 prepared to plug it up to kies to update to 4.1.2 only to find out it was already on JB, hooked it up to odin, flashed AGAT, Flashed FL24, flashed slim bean and gapps and bam. i went from broken rooted to factory to new, out of the box factory to rooted AOSP in like 30 mins. So i had the chance to stay TW and went AOSP anyway lol. So TouchWiz, I promise, at some point, Ill be back (Arnold Voice), but right now im loving 4.2.2.
