Help Interesting Battery Issue

So I was on 3G listening to iheartradio app and it was roaming from 3G to 1G. Battery drained down to 15% so I turned the 3G off and phone off. Even got the warning tone to recharge. Booted back up on my way home and I had 45% charge. It settled at 40% charge after a few minutes.

Whats the deal? Any reason why my phone suddenly regained 25-30% charge without being plugged in? Anyone seen this before?

I've had it happen before to... my guess is that the phone "thought" 3g was draining more battery than it actually was... and after the restart it was like "oh... guess I was wrong"... and another theory is that the 3g did drain the battery but after the reboot the phone misinterpreted the amount of charge left... usually when this happens to mex it starts off high and then it will discharge extremely fast until the gauge is correct
