Interesting GPS Trick

So, I, as well as many others, have noticed how slow the gps is to pick up a lock. Frustrated by this, I opened up GPS Status (the application) to see if I could pinpoint the problem and *poof* it locked in three seconds. I figured this was a fluke since I had already been trying to get a lock in maps for a minute. So, the last few days, I've been randomly opening just GPS Status and it's never taken more than five seconds to get a lock. Wonder if the problem is in how maps interfaces with the hardware somehow?

I know it sounds weird, but try enabling your Wi-fi signal (easiest to get on/off switch for Wi-fi and GPS) before opening up Google Maps. For some reason it helps lock your GPS location in more quickly and more accurately once you open up Maps.
