1) Can I have a different wallpaper for each of the 6 screens?

2) I understand shortcuts on a PC but on the Inc, if I add an existing program (e.g. Calendar) to another screen as opposed to using a shortcut, am I consuming more memory? Why would it even let me do this instead of defaulting to a shortcut?

2. yes you're consuming more memory, but not enough for your phone to ever notice. it's allowing you to do that, because the glory of Android is you can do whatever you want with your own phone. I suspect you're comparing what's called a "widget" and not a shortcut. Go ahead and fill up all 7 screens with widgets, the only memory that will be affected is you trying to remember which screen has which widgets
