Basically, you can't add internal memory.
If you're phone originally ran an older version of Android, the internal storage may be partitioned. Rooting may allow you to reconfigure this so that more space is available for apps, for example. See the rooting sub-forum for your phone for more information.

Sometimes clearing the caches in an app (especially the browser) can help you reclaim a bit of space (at least temporarily).
