Internal phone memory - should I be concerned?

I've installed a few apps and the phone reports internal memory available space as 85.5Mb.

The spec on the Desire says 576Mb RAM.

Should I be concerned? What can I do to free up RAM?

Thanks

Nick

Apps are installed on the rom not the ram,the os is also installed on the rom so after the os install you're only left with about 140 mb to install apps.I think there's a rumour that a future update may include the ability to install apps on the sd card, but not sure weather that's true? The only way to install apps to the sd card now is to root the phone I believe.

I've just rooted my desire it was pretty simple, and installed apps2sd its a amazing program, its the best way to go

How many apps does a person need? I've got loads on there, many of them could go if I ran out of space. Do I really need that tricorder? Or the shwartz lightsabre? Or 2 Friday sound boards? Nope. If I run out, off they go. Maybe even to be downloaded again if I really want to look like an idiot in the pub.

maybe you could make a Sticky on this forum on rooting and advantages and dissadvantages you get after rooting, so people with memory or waranty concert would see what is best for them and how to root. thanx
