internal phone storage

The apps I uninstall are no less than apps I download. It may be more instead. I notice when I uninstall apps, sometimes their files are still in the phone.

I don't know which files are left over files and don't want to risk removing the wrong ones. I know there are apps that clean up spaces, but they require your phone to be rooted, and I don't want to do that.

 Does those left over files consumed much spaces of the internal phone storage ?

 If yes, should I factory data reset ? Or anymore suggestions coz setting up the phone again is such a big hassle.

On internal storage where apps are installed, these uninstalled apps don't take up any space.

Some of these apps have yet their data files on the external storage/SD card.
So you could use a file manager like ES File Explorer for to look there for folders with the same names as these uninstalled apps and delete these folders.

Just as an FYI, the left over files hardly take up any space at all, were talking bytes, maybe one K after multiple multiple, app removals.:)

If you want to know the internal/external storage usage of installed and uninstalled apps, have a look at the app 'DiskUsage', free in Play Store.

I like this nice graphic displaying with zoom in ability on the storage usage :)

I would add that most of your big gaming apps that require you to download additional files, after you download the app from the play store, stores the files in the "Android" folder. Even if you uninstall the app, you need to check this folder to make sure no files are left over. I have uninstalled apps only to find out that they left the big files in the "Android" folder taking up space. Also, if you don't see the app name on the file, it might be entitled with the developers name.
