Root Internal SD Card

So, I am still just curious about this...

My Fascinate is rooted, lag fixed, and running beautifully.

that said, i had my fascinate before it was released. Jedii posted that he was able to root a fascinate with the same method as the captivate/vibrant. I tried and tried, but to no avail. one of the steps was to access the "internal SD card" via mounting USB, xfer some files, reboot with ADB, and install an update.zip.

i asked if he had actually done it on a vibrant or captivate and just assumed it would be the same as with the fascinate, but he seemed almost offended, and said it was certainly done on the fascinate.

my question is, i am still not able to see any sort of "internal SD card" via usb. it was suggested to remove the SD card to be able to differentiate between the two. it doesnt matter much to me, since my phone is already rooted, i am just wondering how exactly can one access this so-called internal SD card. i know it must be possible, because Jedii has done it.

this isnt something terribly important, but i'm really curious.
