Same issue. Everyone is wondering what is going on - Internal Memory is also a paltry 2.4GB and everyone is wondering what happened to the rest as was there with the Incredible.

It has been answered. The internal storage is for preinstalled apps and a little over 2GB of it is for user installed apps. The reason so much space is taken up is because of VZ Navigator which stores all of the maps locally(Many gigabytes). The 32GB microSD card is the user storage space. The reason the preinstalled apps take up so much space is why the phone came with a 32GB microSD card in the first place.

This is the better way to do it as well. Many apps have problems knowing the difference between microSD card, internal phone storage that is user accessible, and dedicated app storage space. Incredible users can tell you first hand about this.

do pics and videos automatically save to sd card or internal storage? Also, I d/l file manager and wasnt able to find my pics on there. anyone know whY?

When you connect the phone to your computer, change the USB setting to mount as disk drive and it will see the SD card.

Incredible's main issue though is the data/data folder forcing out of space errors when over 135mb in the folder. This means if the folder gets filled to 135mb, it does not matter how many apps you have- you will get the error, just like if the 768mb app storage was actually full. STUPID error by HTC.

The TB's 8gb space is mapped as all app space, just like the Droid X. Had HTC and VZW not touted the space before launch (in order to differentiate from the 32gb iPhone), none of this confusion would be around.

The media when reviewing the TB and bringing the "40gb" up did not help the perception. As pointed out in another thread, VZW states the available space in a manual spec.

I see that makes sense i was just used to the incredible where you could access both when hooked to the pc thank you for clearing that up for me

VZ Navigator? Doesn't VZ charge extra for that?
The TB does not have Google Maps/Google Navigator?
