Help internal storage runs very low with few downloads

I'm unclear why my LG Optimus V runs very low internal storage -- even with very few downloads to internal storage. I obviously move as many as my apps to SD storage as apps I want have that capacity, but with so much bloatware pre-installed that can't be removed, I have room for little else that requires use of my internal memory, not SD card. Bloatware includes Where, Twitroyd, Poynt, etc....that I've uninstalled updates for and reduced their space hogging, but even that doesn't work.
I'm at 7% free and the only newly downloaded programs to internal storage -- because they don't have an SD option -- are advanced task killer, and yahoo mail. I use 1-tap clean cache, housed on my SD card, to clean out cache, and advanced task killer, housed on internal storage, to kill running program and kill what services I can that are running.
Any suggestions on what's wrong, and what I can do about it?

I don't have the skill or interest in rooting a phone, and voiding my warranty.

I added the App 2 SD app by Sam Lu, and although it didn't show me any movable apps, afterwards, the memory increased somehow after installing the app to my SD card...; it also has a one-stop clear cache button you can add to other one-button cache clearer apps....; see the video at the website...; Still stumped...maybe just an artifact of erroneous reporting at Android, although I restarted the phone a few times and it kept showing low memory until after using the App 2 SD app, again without moving any apps from internal storage to SD card. I had already moved all that could be moved. Strange voodoo magic at work, or another explanation?
 
ArtL7 already mentioned he is not interested in rooting and void his phone's warranty. My phone is not rooted and I still have 60mb phone internal memory left. At one point I was down to 20mb and getting that low memory message. So I deleted a bunch of apps that I didn't really need and now I'm back to 60mb.
 
i have this same problem. could the problem be the photos or videos i take on the phone take up internal phone memory? if so, is there a way to transfer these images/vids to the SD card? i have 19GB of SD card memory free to fill up!

It only comes with like 125mb of app storage to start out with on stock so you shouldn't expect to get very many apps installed in the first place and as you aren't going to root there isn't really a fix :(
 
I have a similar problem. I have LOTS of room on my SD card but my internal memory is getting full and I've gotten that warning a few times.

I've been looking at the "manage applications" screen where it enables you to move some apps to the SD card. I noticed that some of the apps do not have that option (the 'Move to card' button is greyed out). A couple of these apps are kinda big. Like the Facebook app won't let me move it to the SD card (6MB). And the Weather Channel app (5BM). Those two alone add up to 11MB.

Is there a reason why some apps won't let you move them to the card? Is there a way to fix (override) this and move them over?

A custom rom based on CM7 (ie BACKside IHO CM7 for the OpV) will allow you to set downloaded apps to either internal storage (on the phone), external storage (SD card), or automatic. There is also a setting right above that one to allow any application to be moved to the SD card (I've only seen a few that wont move, but it's probably best they stay within the internal storage)

Rooting and installing a custom rom gives you damn near endless possibilities with your phone. CM7 is the way Android should of been to begin with. ;)
 
How many apps are a few? I have 10 apps downloaded 5 of which I moved to the sd card.

By uninstalling all the bloatware updates, especially Google maps, and clearing all the cache and data (you can always go back to your go to apps and reset your settings like locations and such), as of this posting I have 118 mb internal storage available and I am not rooted.

Last month after the bloatware update dump, I went into manage apps and one by one went through each app on the phone clearing the cache and data and discovered that in the Weather Channel app I had accumulated 26 mb of data. I cleared that data and presto, 20 mb of space opened up. I just went back into the app and reset my location and settings.

Give that a try. Like I said, you can always reset your locations and settings.

It's not a bug, it's a feature. :p

I fight this battle every single day. Yesterday I deleted the Kindle app and was amazed at how much space it recovered. as Thorsten mentioned, removing that app freed up much more space than I expected it to based upon what the settings screen said it was using.

Another tip -- if you use Dolphin Browser (as I do), occasionally delete the HTML 5 info and it could liberate some space.
Settings > Manage Apps > Dolphin Browser > Manage Space > Clear HTML 5 data

I'm to the point where I would not mind rooting the phone, but I don't want to screw it up and my technological track record of late just ain't that great.
 
The browser is one of the biggest memory hogs. It's like a pack rat, constantly storing info. This is why I always clear the history before I exit the browser, and then run a cache cleaner and clean my system.I probably need to look into deleting the HTML 5 video as well. Thanks for the info.

Had you also updated the app just before? I unintentionally updated Kindle (I wanted to see what the update was about, but the market app registered my attempt to scroll as a click on the Update button :mad:) and had no choice but to delete it immediately thereafter. Updating took my free internal space from over 25 MB to just over 7 MB (the latter of which is much too little for the phone to work). This although the Kindle app nominally resided on the SD card.

Just another example of how only parts of an app will be stored on the SD card
