Root [International] Camera Bug need help.

Hi there,

Can't find anything similar to the problem I am experiencing.

I have installed 2 different roms, and whether I use Google Camera, tried a camera app from play store now, or Samsung camera app.

When ever I activate the flash and try to take a picture, flash comes on and then camera app just stops, doesn't take a picture and just leaves the flash on and almost hangs in the camera app, camera still updates current image, but just won't take any pictures and flash stays on, I have to force disable the camera app in settings to get the flash to turn off.

Any ideas? And yes, if I disable flash, I can take pictures fine.

I am on a i9505 International version running 4.4.4 firmware.

Moved to the root section for proper help and support ;)

What happens if you freeze the stock camera app, using Titanium Backup, and, say, download and install Snap Camera HDR - Trial. Do you still get the freeze when using flash?

I'll have to try that.

I can tell you, I have used *#0*# to enter the test menu. When I test MegaCAM there, flash comes on and everything kind of hangs, screen doesn't freeze, camera remains on and updates current image and flash stays on, but everything else just stops, only way to get out is either remove battery or hold down power button and hit restart.

After a restart I go back into test menu again try again and get "Warning: A/F Failed"

It's kind of sad as it is a brand new device, but I guess some of the hardware must be defective :(

Was it working before rooting?

What Rom are you currently on and did you get to it with a clean flash or dirty flash?

Also, have you got the Knox boot loader or the pre 4.3 one?

Hey.

I had the Knox boot loader, in all honesty, I never tested camera before rooting.

Went between different stock firmwares and custom firmwares and all the same issue.

I actually sent the phone back, pretty convinced it was a hardware issue.

As far I know going into test mode, tests the hardware directly so firmware is irrelevant.

Pretty sad when you get a new phone, but hardware defects are possible.

Hopefully I get sent a new one asap :(

Friggin thing cost so much.

Thanks guys.
