Root [International] Confused on what ROM and Kernel to flash on my version

Thats the very fellow :)
Thanx mate :thumbup:
Hmm for some reason id uninstalled it :confused: hence why i couldnt find it lol

Im using ExTweaks. Changed the AC default charge from default 1000mA to 1200mA but no changes with charging using my stock sammy charger. But then after i installed the LiteRom v1.7 and siyah kernel 1.8.8 somehow the current increased from my usual 400/500 to 600 which is quite better. Then using the ipads charger i get about 800 from the usual 600-700 not really bad at all. Im still observing my battery life, I may have to give it a few days. So far everything is smooth :)

Yeah i have it at 1200 and noticed a difference. Think it needs the custom kernel to work :thumbup:
How are u monitoring what charge current youre getting btw?

I think my battery is starting to get better after disabling the ExTweaks undervolting,and other setting.... and also I disabled the media scanner(maybe i need to reformat my sd card because this started after i used directory bind so then now i have uninstalled it, i still get the media eating much of the battery from time to time. I will continue to monitor on this but i can feel now that my this rom and kernel did made a lot of changes specially on the battery life :thumbup:

And oh i managed to add the yahoo widget after flashing Aroma :)

Disabling undervolting to save battery is counter intuitive. If that works, your phone is backwards or in a parallel universe with opposite logic...

Yes backup sd to pc then format the card and copy data back. This media scanner issue often occurs after updating to a new jellybean rom when there is old media on the card

Yeah. Overclocking it will use more power, not undervolting.
I usualy run at 1.6Ghz at home and 800Mhz when im out n about. 300 is usable too :)
I havent got into undervolting... yet

So you mean to say by just underclocking it to 800mhz w/o undervolting is ok? By the way any positive/negative insights on Jellybam? Ive seen the positive but not much on negative.i wonder hows the battery life there

By the way what app are you using to schedule the tweaks, ive read it somewhere but forgot the name :)

I found it! I think it's setCPU

I use No Frills Cpu. Just a really simple app and yeah, the phone isnt as snappy at 800 but battery lasts a lot longer :)
No idea about Jellybam mate sorry :thumbup:

So you mean to say by just underclocking it to 800mhz w/o undervolting is ok?

Underclocking and undervolting are 2 separate things and are mutually exclusive.

We use SVS Kernels. Static Voltage Scaling.

That means every CPU Clock frequency has a determined voltage statically aligned.

For example:

200MHz = 800mV
300MHz = 825mV
400MHz = 850mV
500MHz = 875mV
600MHz = 900mV
700MHz = 925mV
800MHz = 950mV
900MHz = 975mV
1000MHz = 1000mV
1100MHz = 1025mV
1200MHz = 1050mV
1300MHz = 1075mV
1400MHz = 1100mV

These are just examples. I can't be bothered to work out the exact values.

Underclocking is the process of limiting the Maximum frequency. So for example, you limit the CPU to 800MHz, it can never run faster. This means that the CPU will never draw more than 950mV in this example. This saves battery.

Undervolting is the process of setting a lower static voltage to each clock frequency...

Eg....

200MHz = 700mV
300MHz = 725mV
400MHz = 750mV
500MHz = 775mV
600MHz = 800mV
700MHz = 825mV
800MHz = 850mV
900MHz = 875mV
1000MHz = 900mV
1100MHz = 925mV
1200MHz = 950mV
1300MHz = 975mV
1400MHz = 1000mV

So above, I have applied an undervolting of -100mV accross the entire scale. As you can work out, 1200MHz when undervolted in this example, uses the same power as 800MHz on the example before, without undervolting. This means one of two things....

1) You can run the same speed for less power
2) You can run higher speeds without extra power.

So you see, you do not need to undervolt when underclocking. They are different things. Each clock has its own voltage anyway.

Wow thanks a lot mate! :thumbup: :rock:

I wanted to do a clean installation of my apps again. Do i need to clear dalvik cache or just wipe factory/reset and wipe cache partition would do. What does dalvic cache really do?wipe out the system(eg ROM)? im having the same battery experience as my stock JB so maybe im thinking i just need to do a fresh installation again to get rid of any corrupt files or settings that may not be syching correctly with the new ROM.

The dalvik cache is the cache for the apps. To remove the ROM you need to format system in mounts and storage. So to get a clean install. Wipe data, clear cache, clear dalvik, format system them flash the ROM.

Got it! Thanks a lot :thumbup:
