Root [International] Danvdh ROMs

Not too shabby at all this one....

Is there a back to kill option, or does one need gravity box for this+

I use GravityBox for the kill option Syd. I couldn't see it on Danvdh's CM ROM.

Just started using this rom after using Danvdh GE rom and noticed I can now charge my phone whilst it is turned off :)

I'm pretty sure that Danvdh fixed the charging when off on the GE ROM a few updates ago, kingink65.

Just checked... he did on the 3/29/2014 release.

You can program LMT to do this Syd. I'm finding LMT extremely handy and very powerful.

And whilst TB's bug is waiting to be fixed, you can even get it to send the menu key sequence, enabling you to get into the Settings menu within TB

Hello. I have a Galaxy s4 and i want to change the rom. I`ve been using the stock 4.4.2 for a month now and 1 time flashed CM 11. Got rid of it 1 week ago. Seeing that Danvdh ROMs are so great and apreciated by many i want to get it to my phone but i have 2 questions:
1. Danvdh is based on CM wich made my front camera image squeezed and awkward when i was on a Skype call. This was 1 "bug" that made me revert to stock. Did you guys, who flashed the rom, experienced this "bug" ?
2. As i was going to download i saw that the file had only 200MB. I thought it was to small in comparison with a stock 4.4.2 at 1+Gb. Is this ok ?

Syd, personally I'm using wanams module for aosp as gravity box had given me conflicts before and actually specifies it's not for cm roms....

Parfulica, I don't know about no 1, but yes 200mbs is about right, plus gapps file around 65mbs. This shows you how over bloated the stock roms are :-)

To be fair, (my last comment was rushed at work.....) touchwiz has many features that are not available on aosp based Roms, at least without an add on which adds more size to the minimalistic initial download. But all nightlies of cm are similar in size :-)

There are some features I miss from the stock based Roms, but I've got to admit that been enjoying aosp more the s4, even back on 4.2, in fact, I've never flashed a sammy 4.3 or 4.4 Rom to even try out! But I was on cm and eventually ge as more of these features work better for usage :-) and i like playing with the themes and other tweaks ;-)

Oh and back to kill can also be accessed through developer options for anyone who doesn't want to use xposed mods :-)

Does he think we're gonna blindly follow others without any further details or thought......

Why change the habits of a lifetime Syd? ;)

I flashed on the strength of Hawker's say-so, on the grounds that I could make his life a living hell on this forum if it didn't work. Everything fine so far. If anything, I would say that it is faster in menus, animations and scrolling. Very smooth IMHO. I'm guessing that with Dan, "on the road", that Hawker's tied up on xda forums.

Go on... give it the old Syd magic! :vamp:

Oh the sheer laziness of some people on here!
I need to buy more spoons! :D

I was up until 2am last night trying to conclude with Dan if SuperSU was going to have to be required in future builds instead of the much more efficient SuperUser (largely due to permissions problems and TB issues) but eventually we managed to get to the root (pardon the pun) of the problem, and was decided to keep SuperUser (it's no coincidence that AndroidOS and Android System battery hit is MUCH lower now....this is largely due to SuperUser)...he even had a SuperSU build of the ROM ready to upload for me to test! Really fellas, this guy is extremely dedicated to his work.

He may do a few more tweaks of his own on each build (Eg. on this build, Dan has shuffled the settings menu about slightly, and taken the non-working burst mode feature out of the camera) but by in large, updates Dan puts into each build are taken from the CM commits. But the way CM ROMs are, he has to redo ALL of his own tweaks on every build, so this is never a trivial task.

I did ask him if he intended "bi-weekly" was meant as 1 update every fortnight, or 2 updates per week, and he said one per fortnight......but I've been using his ROMs for so long now and know how he operates, and I just knew he wouldn't be able to ever wait that long! :)

Blooming lightweight! ;)

I was adding the changelog to the PhilZ release, here, at 02.15 hrs. sipping a Lumumba, (hot chocolate, brandy and squirty cream).

Too true! 4 updates in 5 days. :hmmmm:

However, this latest offering, for me, is proving very good in the 12 hours I have had it installed so far. This is the first release that I have found to be noticeably faster and slicker than Dan's GE ROM. Very snappy indeed.

I am also getting some consistent, good, overnight Deep Sleep at 95.2% with a 1% battery drain in 6 hours with just Sound Off.

Touch wood, I'm experiencing no problems with using the Xposed framework on this ROM and it allows me the battery saving Smart Radio feature.

Went to check but I don't actually have the app installed so, whilst in bed,I downloaded it just for you and have nipped through to the loo to try it out, it certainly appears to be working for me, but that was only with a minimal test asking to search things and to call/text which it set up and started the call.

On another note, is anyone else trying it out on art?

Could someone check Google Voice Search is working on this latest build please.

Dandy for me cheeseroller.
What are you getting?

I did however fiddle the gapps before i installed them. (Always done this) I remove hangouts and more importantly Google search (velvet.apk) so that i can install them as user apps later from the play store

Cheers Hawker!

I have now tracked the cause of my problem down. Google Search is OK with the latest CM ROM but not with the latest CM ROM + Xposed framework + GravityBox. After a few flashes backwards and forwards the result is always the same.

So it looks like my days of using those 3 together, are over. :(

I can either...

1. Continue with Dan's CM ROM sans Xposed and GravityBox and lose the functions that I want.

2. Stay on the last, 5/29/2014, CM ROM which does not affect Xposed and GravityBox.

3. Restore a nandroid of GE ROM which plays nicely with everything.

4. Get an iPhone.

(Always wanted to post that, as it is the mantra of all the Wally's having a hissy fit ;))

I'm guessing that I am alone in using art instead of dalvik?

I only ask as I appear to be getting even better battery using it! Example was yesterday before work I got to 50% using mainly chrome and fb, plus some video 1.5hrs screen with 4hrs usage on dalvik. Charged it up, went to art and it took 6 hrs with nearly 2hrs screen and more video before getting to 50% can't say I've noticed much more of a difference between the two though :-)
