Root [International] ECHOE Rom

I use the stock sms app, and I just noticed on mj5 when I get a new message, the lockscreen just says "New message". On mga it used to tell me who the message was from as well.

Anyone else getting this? Knowing my luck of late, it's probably just a problem for me.

So... I enabled my lock screen. I disabled Handcent messaging. I enabled stock messaging and sent a message to myself. It comes up on the lock screen as a translucent rectangle with the words, "Messaging", and, "New message", with the time received.

Is that what you wanted to know old thing?

I'll just go and put my phone back the way it was shall I? ;)
 
Hawker old boy, check into the message settings and there is an option in their to show message on the lockscreen....can't remember exact details and can't check as I'm still on cm, but I do remember that from previous stock Roms :-)

Thanks for that. Just seen that preview option. I really don't remember setting that on mga. I must have tho. Just set the option and things back to normal. Cheers mate

You didn't used to have to change it, the default setting has changed

I've always been taught that there are no stupid questions. The only stupid question is a question not asked :)

But yes, I've unrarred it and even flashed it thrice! I will have a look at the link ironass gave me, looks like I do need a bit more work to get it flashed the right way
 
Grrrrr just as version 6, complete with kitchen and bells and whistles, was being uploaded, the mods close down the thread coz of a few idiots......

Anyway, yeah, come on, dish the goss, on the echoe thread, not the std ;-)
 
well i went back 10 pages in the thread and they have obviously removed the offending posts.
Surely a thread doesnt get locked because of a few morons complaining about a theme.
 
i have a link from twitter for the 2 full downloads, themed and stock.

I am just waiting confirmation that they are 100% for our phone, will post links if they are

It does rather smack of using a sledgehammer to crack a walnut. It would seem the majority are being punished for the armhole minority... not to mention the poor dev.

From what I have seen on the xda forums, you have those who are willing to devote their time and effort to producing stuff that they share with others and then you have a tiny, but abusive, minority who demand, moan, whinge and try and throw their weight around and generally act like spoilt brats. Being a dev is by-and-large a pretty thankless task without having to be penalised for the actions of a few of those he is trying to help.

Right... morning rant over. Need more coffee! ☕
 
I always use the full version, and freeze what I dont want, as they say:
One man's bloat is another man's haute.

V6 seems to be adding quite a few apps as standard (adaway, xposed, wanam etc)
Also, there has been a lot of mods made to the stock SMS app which seems handy.
Per-app DPI seems a big enhancement. Not seen this ever on a Sammy ROM before. However, this can sometime become more trouble than it's worth, but still worth a dabble I think.

Speed dial extended to 100? I can't fill the current 8!!!!

I'm a stock purist, so the themed version doesn't really interest me, so I'm pondering on whether or not to install v6, or just lift bits+bobs out of it and put onto v5.
I'm wondering how v6 will cope when 3Minit comes out. Easy enough to disable Wanam Xposed, but there are a few 3-minit type things integrated into the system settings menu, so this may perhaps clash. We shall see....

@hawker i too went for the un themed rom and i agree about the bloatware thing, everyone immediatley uninstalls allshare and yet i download more samsung stuff as my televisions, bluerays etc all make use of it

one question i have, i went to load the viper audio mod and it gave the choice of 4 cpu`s

without VFP (PXA920) :confused:
with VFP :(
Cortex A8 with Neon :o
Cortex A9/15 with Neon :hmpf:

any idea which i choose ??

As for v6, I dirty flashed over v5 to test.
I've made the following observations:

1. LED manager always puts an annoying icon in the status bar even when you turn off the option in the app. Only way I've found to get rid of it is to disable notifications in for the app in android. If you do this, then none of the LED functionality of the app takes affect
2. "Downloads" in echoe rom does nothing as yet
3. Adaway is on v2.3. You cant install 2.5 over this. I think you may have to manually put it into /system/app/adaway.apk and set permissions+reboot. As I dont know whats different between 2.3 and 2.5, I'll stay with 2.3
4. comes with wanam xposed and nottach xposed. For what I can make out, these do similar things. not sure why its bundled with both. does enabling both give you any benefits/problems?
5. Comes with useless battery calibration app. this was useless on the S2, so I dont see why this should be any different on the S4

I'll stick on v6 for now, but I've made a zip for v6 sms etc. so I may eventually go back onto v5 and flash this. Depends on if 3Minit works properly on v6 or not.
