Root [International] ECHOE Rom

Looks like I'm stuck with this one till the morning as I don't have enough battery to do anything about it. At least it lets me set an alarm although I'm not sure I trust it to actually go off.

Cheers Shotty old thing!

Just woken up from my extended afternoon nap to see that you've given it a go. Left my computer downloading Echoe v14, NA5. However, since you have taken on the mantle of chief lemming kamikaze cannon fodder test pilot, from Syd and sntaylor, I shall take heed of your report and stay on the Echoe GE, v2.2, ROM which has, since flashing the latest ktoonsez kernel, been behaving itself very well.

This now means that you've saved me lots of time and trouble... so, pub! :D

Not a problem. Enjoy and good luck finding that badgers arse:)

Works fine on the ge kit Kat rom.

On the tw rom, all is explained by the wonderful ironass in one of his trade mark guides here http://androidforums.com/showthread.php?p=6383769. If you are on old boatloader, you MAY still get Wi-Fi working using anthrax kernel. Many have said this works, several have reported issues. personally have not tried it. The links on xda have been removed, so if you want to give it a go, pm me....

Yeah I had wifi working on the tw echoe using the anthrax kernel. Unfortunately wifi was about the only thing which did work:(

Best setup for v14 on old bootloader:

1. Newest version of Alien Kernel (downloading from playstore seems to be working... only root explorer did not, but all the other ones- and paid apps i tried installed successfully): https://mega.co.nz/#!upoTCKqS!ZkQnGBwvP-qUgXySjGZooVrbaM8fAcY9g0crcIQ_L2U

2. In case with just the kernel, wifi takes forever, flash 4.4.2. GE WIFI FILES: https://mega.co.nz/#!rshVmTRK!KR8AHXU7VKjtHHR0ZW0viVLg_scAJixoqeNLywfz4KU

3. And finally, for the Settings/ Security FC you inevitably get b/c of old bootloader flash my modded settings who seemed to have fixed that : https://mega.co.nz/#!GwpwWRoJ!WaZhIXSJoYvO4a_IqbGpBnhCavcG8CYqxwrsYsTSGR8

Hi what are the files I can delete under my one internal storage? I don't have space anymore. And in not sure which folder is safe to delete? Thanks

Don't think I'll be stickin wi this ROM as far too unstable (even after doing the 3 fixws above). Can anyone recamend a ROM thats stable and cuts out all the bloat ??

All Samsung bloat removed in this very stable ROM...

I'm on echoe rom v12 with old bootloader and I want to try v14.1. Can I just flash the v14.1 then flash the alien kernel?

Hello and welcome to Android Forums matchb0x! :)

Echoe v12 is Jelly Bean, Android 4.3 and Echoe v14.1 is KitKat, Android 4.4.2 and so therefore you will need to do a clean install as described in 3a, here.

Also on old bootloader

As you said, flash the rom then flash the kernel

see Friedrichs post (on this page ) and flash the other files

Only problem im having is wifi doesnt remember password after rebooting the phone.

In truth 4.4.2 has nothing more than 4.3 in fact i would say 4.3 is a lot better for smoothness, speed battery life etc.

now after trying this rom im going back to my GE 4.4.2 backup

I'm with you on Echoe GE 4.4.2 iT0mm0! :thumb:

Been on it for awhile now and after getting used to the GE interface it is proving to be a stable, reliable, way of enjoying KitKat. With GravityBox and A Better Camera to enhance it. I especially like the latest version of the ktoosez kernel which is now giving me my old 4.3 battery life... particularly useful with the storms and power cuts I am getting at the moment! :(

that camera looks promising, im trying a cm11 rom for a change but will definitley give that a shot (see what i did there lol ):D

Finally got round to replacing my Kox'd up stock rom (I9505XXUEMKF) with this one, but I'm getting an error while flashing:

E:Error in /storage/sdcard1/Echoe_KitKat_v2.2_03Jan2014.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted

I did a full wipe (the one in Philz) and then started flashing. Tried searching for the error, but haven't found anyone with the same problem. Any suggestions?

Either flash philz 6.09.2 or earlier for the installation or change the updater script's format command to:
format("ext4", "EMMC", "/dev/block/mmcblk0p16", "0", "/system");

Echoe ROM v16 4.4.2 Touchwiz XXUFNB8 Base is up! :)

"FEATURES:
*Based on the Android 4.4.2 Official Samsung Firmware I9505XXUFNB8

So presumably doesn't play with the old boatloader too well.....

Correctemundo Syd!

Thank goodness you posted mate. Its been very quiet on here. I thought that I'd woken up in a post apocalyptic world and I was the only survivor. :afraid:
