[International / GSM] Am I bricked/screwed? Was flashing a kernel

Hello everyone,

I have a pretty major problem. I flashed the minimalist kernel and made a backup beforehand. I've flashed tons of kernels on the verizon nexus as well as my previous droid and never had any kind of problems like this.

After the install was completed it got stuck in a boot loop. Well I assume it was a boot loop. Usually the screen will flicker when it's in a loop but I waited for over 10, maybe 15 min and it was still stuck on the google screen. Therefore I planned to pull the battery and restore the backup and that's what I tried.

That's where I have the major problem. I restore into recovery, but the only options I have is the start screen. If I use the volume keys I can't move into recovery or anything else other than the start screen. It says, "downloading....do not turn off at source." I wait there for over 20 minutes and nothing is happening. The top left has red letters that say "odin mode" It doesn't look like anything is downloading. Therefore I do a battery pull and let it reboot but again it's in a boot loop...well the google screen stays on constantly. So I pull the battery and it's a viscous cycle. What do I do??! If I press the power button while it's on the start screen it reboots, however it is in a boot loop.

You are in Odin mode (volume down key + power). Instead be careful to press BOTH volume keys at the same time + power. That'll get you to the bootloader, then you can use the volume rocker to select recovery.

I can't thank you enough. I'm out of town and was freaking out!

Hey there and welcome to Android Forums. We are the Galaxy Nexus forum and to be honest, many of us don't use Odin regularly because we have other alternatives on our phone. For your best chance at getting help, I would try posting your query here:

Galaxy S2 Skyrocket - All Things Root - Android Forums

Also, I'm not sure if this would help you or not, but here is a thread on how to return to stock on your phone:

http://androidforums.com/galaxy-s2-...rn-stock-fix-soft-brick-11-13-rogers-tar.html

I'm not positive if that's the build you're looking for but it seems like it may be about right by looking at the date of the post. In any event, maybe you could check the instructs against what you are doing to see if there are any discrepancies? Good luck!
