[International / GSM] [Cyanogenmod] Adding icons to control banner?

Winfried

Well-Known Member
Hello

I don't know if "Controls banner" is the right name: It's the set of icons that are displayed when pulling down the banner.

As shown, it's missing the shortcut to toggle between 2G/3G, and a way to list the wifi hotspots. How can I add those?

Thank you.

Thanks for the info.

I could customize the Quick Settings panel here:

Settings > Interface > Quick Settings panel > Tiles and layout.

However, there's no icon to list the wifi hotspots: The "Wi-fi AP" turns the phone into a wifi hotspot to share its 3G Internet access, but there's no option to list the available wifi hotspots.

If there is no tile for it Winfried, then you can't add them unless you update to a different version of CM that might support those tiles, or switch ROMs entirely, sorry :(

On the standard CM 10.2 they do not offer those settings. However, if you search for unofficial CM ROMS for your device that have been modified you could probably find them.

I found an unofficial version of CM 11 for one of my retired devices and it does have the tile to toggle between 2G/3G but the WiFi Teather tile wasn't added.

You'll just have to peruse for a custom ROM that offers the options you enjoy. SlimROM is a decent consideration if they support your device.

Very true.

I think they got rid of the additional tile settings in CM10....

Just remember that CM is a ROM that tries to blend customization with ease of access with the user in mind. It isn't a customization ROM, it's there for speed, battery life, and the user. It's for people who aren't in favor of all the craziness of a ROM like Paranoid Android or JBSourcery, that still gives a few options and exceedingly better battery life.

Although I know most other ROMs, even those that pick from CM, have the option to add/remove extra tiles, even create your own.

^ this. Find a modded CM rom for your device. I always find thew to be better anyway :)

Yeah I mean i always like more functionality and customization, just sometimes, like in the case of JBSourcery for the GNex, it was a great ROM but I think customization can sometimes go too far and cause the experience to decline as well, in their case I was actually getting lag on the device because so many features haha.

Yeah mate. Last thing you want is a Touchwiz type rom lol :)
What i like about Xposed Framework is it lets you use a really bare rom and just add features you need. I can see that being the future of customisation. Like, i dont use Halo so i dont want it weighing my rom down for example :)

Thanks for the tip. I'm runnin CM 10.2. I'll see if it's worth it taking the risk of another upgrade just for this.

Moved your thread to a more appropriate forum, where others with the same rooted phone running CM can better assist you. ;)
