[International / GSM] ROM Help please

Hi people.

Well I finally rooted my phone but now Im confused. I would like a ROM (GSM UK network) and Im not sure what to do next. How do I put one on basically. I tried it earlier but it nearly bricked my phone so did a factory reset and things are back rooted again.

Anyone know how to get a ROM?
Also I would like something that looks good as well.

I followed this >>>>> http://androidforums.com/galaxy-nex...t-samsung-galaxy-nexus-video-walkthrough.html to root my phone so I have done all that. If this helps at all

Thanks

Do you have the ROM Manager tool? If not, get it. Look on any one of the threads that have postings of ROMs you want to try. Follow the link (they normally point to a post on RootzWiki.com). The links to download and instructions will be there. I use AOKP (I'm on build 27).

If the ROM has a GAPS (Google Apps) package, do not load the ROM in ROM manager by picking it from the disk. You must boot into recovery mode and then flash the ROM followed by the GAPs and then reboot.

If the ROM does not have GAPS, you can select it in ROM manager and then load it. You MUST clear your phone when switching from ROM to ROM.

Hope this helps. If not post back here and someone will help.

Ahh I already have that. How do I install the ROMs? Do I just download a ROM file then copy and paste the zip file to my sd card. Then on ROM manager click install ROM from sd card? Sounds daft but I tried that before and it didn't work.
Also do could you link me a ROM to see if would work please.

Yes. Download the ROM, copy it to the sd card. ROM manager select install ROM. Here is a link to LiquidSmooth. I just loaded that today based on everything I have read. When you first load this ROM, you should notice the boot is quicker and has a different video when loading.

Are you getting any error messages when you are loading the ROMs? Try loading LiquidSmooth and report back any issues/errors you are having.

OK I've tried that rom and I'm getting an error message saying something about the sd card status 7

is your Gnex GSM or CDMA? I found a post for GSM where an update packet had to be applied prior to installing a new ROM (http://android.clients.google.com/p....signed-yakju-ITL41F-from-ITL41D.11bbbccb.zip)

That post also mentions the need to verify a system file:

There are different builds in some Galaxy Nexus phones. Check the /system/build.prop file from your phone (Need a root file explorer to see it) It should say the build name yakju if it is an official Google build.
You may need to flash the full factory image found here
http://code.google.com/android/nexus/images.html
The instructions on how to flash the factory images are here:

It's GSM as I'm in the UK. I've used another ROM and that works fine. I think I've sort of got the basics of how it all works. Thanks for the help
