[International / GSM] T-Mobile coverage question

So I went to the lake with my friends today. My brand new Galaxy Nexus gsm on T-Mobile wasn't getting any reception at all, but my friend had a regular Samsung dart T-Mobile and he had decent coverage. What the heck!!!

Anyone have an explanation and a solution? I tried flashing a couple of radios I had downloaded already and didn't help.

I really don't like not having coverage so any help would be appreciated.
 
The only thing I can think of is to flash a custom radio. You don't have to flash a radio thats based in your country - some work better than others. I live in the US and the DOCOMO (like japanese or korean?) radio works best for me - averaging 13 mbps. Otherwise I have no other suggestions. Maybe something to do with APN settings or updating your PRL?
 
Hey,does anyone have the stock radio for the nexus you buy off the Google Play Store? I was stupid and didn't save it before I flashed another radio.
