[International / GSM] Unrooting GN same as OTA Update?

I decided to try to root my galaxy nexus the other day and install a custom rom. after successfully rooting, i could not for the life or me figure out how to get the "android revolution hd" rom to work on my phone. Anyway, i'd like to just remove the root that i have on it. I'm on a mac and tried to find a guide on how to unroot the nexus and every single one i find confuses me at a point and I dont understand it.

I'm reading that the 4.0.4 update will be releasing soon, and i'd just like to just go back to stock and use that. Could i just update when the official 4.0.4 gets released and will that basically be the same as unrooting and then updating? Or should i find a way to unroot and then do the update?

Thanks!

I also would like to know. I'm planning on rooting but plan to keep the stock rom. But not sure if I can receive the OTA updates or not. Thank you in advance.

Guys, take a look at this post:

How to un-root (return to stock)

Regardless of if you are on a Mac or a PC, here's a broad outline of what you do when you un-root (return to stock):

  • backup the contents of your SD card
  • download the proper stock/factory images from Google for your device
  • extract the contents of the stock/factory images to a working directory
  • put your phone in fastboot/bootloader mode (if you are Windows, you'll need the USB drivers that support this)
  • connect phone to PC via USB cable
  • view and use the contents of the flash-all.sh script as your guide
  • issue / invoke the commands from the flash-all.sh script from a terminal/command window

Additional details are in the link I gave above and/or in the surrounding thread from which that post came (http://androidforums.com/galaxy-nexus-all-things-root/470831-how-all-things-root-samsung-galaxy-nexus.html).

Cheers and good luck!
