[International / GSM] Working root method (from Koush)

Clockwork Recovery for Galaxy Nexus (GSM). This will work fine on CDMA too:

Says it will work, has anyone else tried this? I'm skeptical about how well the GSM/CDMA relationship is with these phones.

I get into clockwork and push su.zip, but when i go to install zip from sd card it tells me it can't find the directory.

any ideas?

Am I supposed to unplug my phone from my computer after i push su.zip, do i need to mount something first?

Has anyone gotten his method to work?

edit: got it to work after rebooting, pushed to /data/media/

Yes, this is a temporary recovery install - simply to push and install su binary. He does state that he will have CDMA version ready 'tonight'

After I pushed su I rebooted / rebooted into bootloader / booted into recovery / flashed su.zip (it didn't show up initially - rebooted and then it showed up)

Once everything installed I did reboot from recovery and seemed to get stalled - battery pull to reboot and I haz root!

i got the bootloader unlocked but now i'm stuck in CWM. i pushed su.zip but when i try to install it i get "can't mount /sdcard/"

ideas? i'm sure i'm missing something obvious but i'm being extra careful as i don't want to brick the phone...

I had the same issue but I'm not totally sure how I fixed it but here's what I did.

Rebooted my phone normally (got stuck in a boot loop so used fastboot to lock then unlock).

I then went back in to fastboot, went into clockwork, and was able to go to install zip from sd card.

So then I pushed su.zip to /data/media/ nothing showed up, so i pushed to /sdcard/ and it finally showed up.

lol interesting...i'm gonna give that a shot. i did just reboot normally because i couldn't figure it out and figured that was the least evil thing i could do. it rebooted once, then went into the setup screen so i'm into ICS now...

note: just did that and it seems to have worked. once i went back into CWM, pushed to sdcard again and it wasn't there. pushed to /data/media/ and it showed up.

verified i'm rooted with root explorer :)

i ran in to a couple of steps i had to reboot the phone and then i was able to get past the step that was giving me an issue....or i found another route.

I think i successfully used a piece of every guide i saw on the interwebs....
