Root [International] Hacked Chrome?

My Chrome seems to be routing through a proxy, with Google telling me it is observing weird behaviour and asking me to fill out captcha. I do not have any proxies activated. I'm wondering if the phone might have a virus. Any idea how I can confirm that?
 
Install an anti-virus app. Also install an anti-malware app. (Malware and viruses aren't the same thing.) If this is happening on wifi, check your wifi connection (Wifi/long-press the connection/show advanced options/Proxy settings). If it's happening on your data connection, contact your carrier's tech support.

I have Avast installed - I did a scan, no results. I'll try out an antivirus as well. Happens with data connection, but tech support is no use - they don't even get what 'proxy' means.

I would RUU back to stock and start over
or at the very least do a factory reset
 
I was hoping to avoid a reset - I don't want to lose my all my data all over again. But I might have to format stuff anyway. Any idea how I can save my data while I do that>
