Root [International] !!!important question about rooting!!!

Before i purchase this galaxy note 2 from amazon. It is brand new still in the box and unlocked! My question is since it is already unlocked can i still root it? I do believe that the unlocking has more to do with the carrier im just not sure. Can an unlocked note 2 be rooted? I root all my phones and save a stock rom to my pc.

Yes, you can root it with a simple exploit and use root apps right out of the box. If you do this, you will trip something and in settings -> about phone it will say "device status: modified". It will not let you accept any OTA updates while the devices status is modified. You have to remove the su binary, and I had to remove busybox binary, and reboot the phone and it will allow you to do OTA updates.

You can flash a custom kernel/recovery. If you do this, there will be a little warning in the download mode screen that says "custom blablabla" and have a little counter. Look into an app called triangle-away to reset that counter.
