Even the most recent update to ROM Manager is not saving the backups to my external SDCard and so therefore I am using OBackup Online Nandroid Backup * ROOT, which works with Android 4.2.2, 4.3 and 4.4, in conjunction with Nandroid Manager. These allow me to use the latest PhilZ recoveries and not only create backups on my SDCard but also I can fire the zipped backups to DropBox, etc; to save space. Thanks for the tip Syd! :thumbup:

Just a small note on OBackup old fella.
I do not believe it is currently being developed by the author, and has not been updated since July.

I use Online Nandroid Backup which is much more current

Hey!, maybe you have heard of this before...I have searched and came up empty handed. I'm using philz on my samsung gtab 3 sm t310 (the newest I'm guessing as its based on cwm 6.0.4.5 and all WAS well until i went to try to restore a backup from sdcard.

I'm trying to figure out how to explain this without it being to lengthy, so here goes...

Basically, when i ran the "backup to sdcard" option, everything backed up and it completed successfully. I rebooted, then booted back into philz just to make sure that i could access my backup if need be. When i click on "restore from sdcard" it tells me "no files found".

I then went into rom manager and it was still telling me that i was was on twrp...and showed only my previous twrp nandroids...So i went into rom toolbox (root browser) to look around and discovered that it backed up my whole tablet in individual files to my sdcard directory instead of the regular 1 restore file that would usually appear in the newly created CWM folder....the "Backups" cwm sub folder is empty ....but all the backup files are serperate in the sdcard directory....

Im brand new to philz and have no idea how this happened. I checked the nandroid settings and it is set to .tar by default....

To make things even stranger i did a 2nd backup but this time to ext sdcard and that one worked perfectly...i have wiped and restored it and it works great. So why is it saving to ext sdcard fine but seperating all the files when saving to sdcard? I like to keep at least 1 nandroid on my internal sd just incase my ext card craps out..

I also tryed to restore my twrp nandroid from philz but that option confused me as it gave me 6 different restore options and i only made 2 twrp backups...some were .md5 and some were not...i wasn't sure which one to choose...I basically just need to clear that first set of backup files off my sdcard or restore my nandroid so its not there...

any help would be great....
