thats crap- they are so full of shit. In Australia you dont pay taxes or duties on anything imported that has a value less than $1000. This is the value of the product and does not include the shipping charge so unless he reckons Google are gonna charge $103 to ship to Australia he is so full of it.

Maybe Google will be smart enough to accept orders outside US and ship it to its own Google Offices outside of US and then delivery to you (here in London UK we have Google office) to avoid crazy customs duty, excise duty, import VAT etc...
