Root [International] Samsung S3 Problems

Hi there,

I recently bought a Samsung S3 from a friend but have a few issues with it.

Firstly it seems to freeze quite a lot and secondly i get an error saying the sim card is not inserted and it must restart. Sometimes this works first time after the restart others it takes a few.

I currently have 4.2.2 and I wonder if this is the issue?

I believe it may also be rooted.

Any help appreciated.

What carrier/model s3? Location?

I would suggest a factory reset. so that it works like you just got it new (so to speak). Also re-seat the sim card. if same issues you can request to get a new sim from the carrier.

One quick indicator of root is if you see superSU in apps.

I do have SuperSU in apps. How do you factory reset the S3's?

The carrier is Orange/EE The sim is brand new but could be faulty from new I guess.

I am from the UK and it is a I9300.

Thanks

Resetting it wont remove root or take it back to the correct official firmware (4.1.2). For that (if thats what you want) youll have to "flash it back to stock" which one of us can explain
4.2.2 for the s3 was a leak and is pretty buggy. When you turn it on, does it do the full samsung boot animation? (Just wondering if youre maybe on a custom rom?
I cant remember where factory reset is tbh. look through the settings and if you cant find it ill tell you the harder way

Oh yeah. Can you go to About Phone and take a pic of the bottom of the list and post it here or upload it to dropbox?

Thank you so much Funky. I was so happy about getting a new phone going for a Iphone 3GS. The constant freezing has almost made me want to go back though.

Really appreciate it. Look forward to your reply.

Thanks for the move to the correct section Mike. Apologies for it being incorrect.

Hey mate. So do you want the phone to be as it should be out of the box 4.1.2 or do you want a custom rom (up to 4.3.1)?
Do you like the samsung features like smart-stay, great camera, multi-window etc or would you prefer more of a nexus experience with purer android, much less laggy and more customisable?

hey!

Honestly i just want it to work properly lol

I am after whatever you guys think is best.

I am a complete Newbie with no experience at all.

Whatever you say is best I will go with.

Cheers.

Id say just put it back to normal and if you get sick of that and want something more advanced, what you learn just now will help.
First can you download and install Samsung Kies and Odin on your PC and ill find a good guide?

Stock firmware bro.
Its gona be really slow from that site though. Hoping someone jumps in with a better link.
Maybe youll have better luck than me on sammobile.com/firmware Our regeon code is BTU
