Root [International] SuperSU Binary Won't Update blah blah blah

I know this is a common problem but still I can't find the solution. I've just rooted and SuperSU binary needs to be updated. It fails so I tried installing the update from Play but that just tells me it can't install the binary and I need to re-root and consult the relevant forums.

So what do I do? I'm very scared of bricking. I'm a noob so please give advice as if helping a 5 year old!

(I'm on 4.3 in the UK, Vodafone.)

Oops just remembered who you are lol. Hmm so youre rooted but not on a rom yet?
Do you have a custom recovery?

Haha! How could you forget me? I have to many damned problems!

I'm on Android 4.3 (stock) and have no intention or using a custom ROM, I just want control over the one I have.

I haven't flashed an updated SuperSU.zip because I don't know where to find it (and I'm scared of screwing up). I presume I just install the new one in the same manor as before?

I don't know what I custom recovery is, so I probably don't have one!

If you boot into recovery (by holding the vol up key, home key and power button simultaneously) you can work out if it is custom - because as far as I can remember, stock recovery doesn't have options for backup and restore. If you have these options, it is a custom recovery.

I have ClockworkMod Recovery. If I boot into recovery I get this on my screen:

Thank you! That's fixed that problem. Now on to the Tasker forum to find out why certain things are still unavailable...
