Awsome,I'm glad that it worked for you,tho I still can't imagine why it wouldn't boot the image it installed,then booted to. This phone has more quirks than I think I've ever seen. :mad:

I was hesitant to.recomend permantly installing it,since there is currently no ruu for your build,and now there is no way to back up stock recovery since it is gone. Hopefully an ruu will pop up,but in a worse case you can just restore an m7_ul stock recovery from another build. Maybe from the att build that you share a modle id with.

If I need to flash a new kernel to my stock rom, what I need to do? Can you give some guide or link ?

OK, had the phone a week and no bugs so far, so that's long enough. S-Off and unlocked using revone :D

Just to mention, an advantage of unlocking via revone is that it does not wipe the phone, unlike the HTCDev unlock.

hadron,did you get an m7_ul or an m7_u in your neck of the woods? not that it really matters,just curious :)
 
It's the UL round here, though I don't have LTE in my tariff. There's only one LTE provider at the moment, and their tariffs are still overpriced for what they offer. Hopefully will improve when the other networks roll our later this year.
 
my first one was a factory s-off M7_u. i liked it alot,as it was black instead of silver :D when s off methods became available,i donated it to my dad and picked up myself a t mobile variant. tmo lte is up and running around here,so i figured silver was worth fast data,and the ability to use umts and hspa+ in non refarmed areas :D
 
t mobile only offers them in silver :( i thot about getting a black ul,but until someone figures out how to activate all the bands an international or att variant wont pick up t mobiles 1700 band hspa when i leave m7 refarmed area. figured if i was gonna spend the $$ again i wanted to be sure it would pick up t mobiles LTE and get 3g/4g when i leave dayton.

the silver has grown on me but i have to admit the black is still much sexier :cool:

you might also consider simply becoming s off,as this will let a permanent recovery install kernels like youre used to. in addiditon,it will allow you to easily remove the tampered and relocked watermarks :)

but after that, when i try to use TWRP to install a new kernel (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2233665), it doesn't work -- NOT flash at all, can you give some guidance?

what is happening? the flash is failing,or the kernel is not changing?

you are s-off,correct? if your only htcdev unlocked it wont work.

if your s off and having issues,might give cw a try instead of twrp

When I try to install the new kernel from twrp, it simply says fail -- I did s off successfully

So I wonder if there's some special thing I need to do to flash kernel

I have been with iphone all the time until recently switch to htc one, so pretty new to android

Have you flashed anything else? I'm not very familiar with TWRP yet (*), but recoveries on my previous device generally had an option to toggle signature validation, and if that was accidentally set on you couldn't flash unsigned zips (i.e. almost everything you ever wanted to flash!). This caught a few people out, so I suggest looking for this just in case it's relevant here.

(*) And can't just boot into it to test because I actually only did the temporary install so far. Reason being that we're expecting an OTA soon, and I thought I might try to update to that (and capture it as a backup) before I started playing with ROMs.

the kernel must be packed up as a recovery flashable zipfile. if youre simply trying to install a boot image with recovery that wont work :eek:

if you can link the kernel youre trying to use we can have a look.

that is correct :) i personally would leave unlocked until such a time that you need to be locked. this lets you have a couple extra fastboot commands that may come in handy,and locked is easy enuff to achieve with a revones tool,or these recovery flashable zip files: http://androidforums.com/internatio...t/732395-how-reset-your-lock-status-flag.html

tampered will disapear once a new hboot is flashed,just an FYI,but revones tool is nice to go ahead and eliminate it :)

if you do get an OTA,you can also capture the ota file in your phone. just navigate to your downloads folder,and copy it to somewhere else(leave the original in place,obviously). it contains firmware that can be useful to have,and we can upload it in case other folks need it

also make sure you havent deleted any bloatware,and do not attempt to OTA if youve changed CID or MID

I have remained unlocked for these reasons but this has occurred to me in the past, why would anyone need to relock a bootloader? Warranty aside?

Or do you mean leave the Unlocked flag alone?

only reason i would ever lock,is to get rid of the reocked/unlocked watermarks for legitimate warranty purposes. :)

there is no benefit to being locked that i can come up with!

Yeah, knew the bloatware bit. I've resisted so far, but just knowing that "stocks" is on my phone..... ;)

Not changed cid myself, but would need to make sure revone hasn't - their tools for other phones sometimes just set a supercid automatically.
