Root [International] Toolbox apps

So , when asked what are some useful apps for android often times a lot of the answers that would come back are fairly similar, because the apps have been proven useful. I
 
Hmmm. I've never seen a multi-question post where the answer "crap" seems to fit best all round.

Dedicated applications that carry out their specific job only are my recommendation. The top list is fine with the exception of the last 2 which sound superfluous to me

Now since I'm still new to these apps.
What would u say that makes these combo apps "crap". They have lots of high rating been featured on different android sites including xda.
I'm not disagreeing with u but I just want to know what makes them good or bad.

Similar to how there's such a huge divide with ppl using battery saving apps. There's lots that are for it and against it.
 
Because something that specialises in something is always better than a Jack-of-all-trades at that task.

If you want someone to make you a coffee table, do you call the handy man or a master carpenter?

Hmmm true enough.....but aren't some programs open sourced allowing them to improve, or copy it?

its like juice defender, it does things u can do manualy and uses resources...
 
I like No Frills Cpu Control... raw n simple :)
And ram booster for a nice scientific way to test different set ups

how does no frills stack up with setcpu?

I always though that task killing was a big no no, isnt that what ram booster does? Also what do you think of ram maanger?
 
Android automatically kills apps in different states at specific levels of free memory. These levels are called oom values (out of memory). To me, these oom values are the only tweaks on RAM a root user should do

so then thats a thumbs up to apps like ram booster?
 
The opposite. Thumbs down. oom can be adjusted by scripts. We do not need the overhead of yet another app to manage something that doesnt need managing.

Android manages RAM well enough. Some advanced users may want to change OOM values. I used to on my desire. I dont feel a need on the S3. I leave it. Never check it. Never think about it.
 
Try for yourself. Run a benchmark after usin a few apps, browsers.
Then clear all ram and repeat.
Android actualy seems to perform better with (in my case [quad core] under 100mb free ram)

No Frills is just a simple app to change speed of processor :)

Set CPU is far more advanced (more options) than No Frills, hence why i use No Frills lol :)
