International Usage

I am going to be taking a trip to England soon and I was wondering if I could use my Eris at all while there? I wasn't planning on using it to call anyone, but would it be able to access the internet through 3g or WiFi? I don't know what sorts of networks are set up over there, but it would certainly be helpful if I could access the internet.

Thanks for the help!

As far as I know, there is no CDMA at all in the UK, so you'll be limited to WiFi if you want to use the Eris for data connections - there will be absolutely no 3G. Verizon does have a rental program for "world phones" that have both CDMA and GSM radios; when my family traveled to Europe a few years ago, my sister-in-law got them for her family and they always worked for calls and texts. I'm not sure about the cost, but I don't think it was terrible.

I know the D2 is now a world phone, but I'm not sure if VZW rents those handsets through that program. Here are the details: Global Travel Program
