Help International Usage

There are times where I will need to go into Canada but I don't want to pay VZWs international rate to call home. I could use my work phone but if I spend enough time on the phone I'm sure I'll get warned about cellular usage.

Since this is a CDMA/GSM international phone I've looked into buying a prepaid Canadian SIM card to put in the phone while I'm there.

I see that Virgin Mobile has an Incredible S on their coverage so I gave them a call but was advised to visit a Virgin Mobile site near me to make sure the phone would work on their network. I am planning to do this in time.

Has anyone else had experience with something like this? My biggest thing is I would like a data connection to use Skype (for voice calls) or Groove IP to use my GV number over data without having to be hooked to WiFi.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

I now see that I have to unlock the SIM first. I've read the other thread about SIM unlocking but am still a little confused.

I'll give it a read, in more depth, later.
