international version?

Hi scanda: I've been reading your post's with great intrest. you've answered many of my early questions, you and a lot of other people here. in answer to your question um i have the note, the 10.1 note, as well as the first i-pad all on at&t. I know a lot of people have a problem with at&t but I have not there service is pretty good here and is getting better all the time. here.
the 8.0 i got is the international version of corse so that means it's unlocked which means all you can do is go to your provider and see if they can support it. which is what i did. it wouldent work on 4g but does work on 3g like the 10.1.
I have a question about the sd card though. just what kind of 64 bit sd card will work in the 8.0? I went and got the sandisk ulta micro sdxc class 64 gb. anybody know if the formating in the 8.0 will work or will i have to format it someplace else?
Thanks guys!

I've never formatted any of my cards--just stick them in and go.
If you feel you must format it you can do so straight from the device.

Hi lilhelper, after you got your note 8 going on AT&T, would you post an update? Does AT&T charge you as a smartphone or as a tablet? Does it show up online that you are using a note 8 or as an unknown device?

Hmmm...could that be part of the reason for your troubles with SD cards going bad? I'm not sure, just throwing it out there, just in case that would've been an easy troubleshooting tip.

I have a 64gb micro SDXC, Class 10 in my Sprint and International Note 2, as well as the Note 8. I always format in the device itself, prior to using, and haven't had any problems with my cards.

It's always better to format cards in the device itself as it will formatted to the devices default settings i.e. Fat32. Some tablets will not use a card that is formatted to NTFS.

So if you have had problems using a card previously then remove the data from it on your PC and then format it in the device and it might be OK

Yeah, ever since the 64gb cards were introduced (and there were comments about older phones not recognizing), I also read that it was better to format the card in the actual device (vs. Windows File Explorer or other means).

I had no problem with that at all and haven't run into any issues with all the 64gb microSD cards I own (all Sandisk). I was never sure if formatting in the phone was the actual reason I avoided any issues, but I've been following that pattern for so long, that I won't go about it any other way anymore.

And since I constantly back up my internal storage and microSD, I never really worry about losing anything.
