Help Internet connection issues

Hi there, everyone! I recently switched to Rogers from Fido, and got a shiny new HOX with it. I'm completely new to Rogers and android phones, but it hasn't been a good experience for me so far... Lots happened but that's another story to tell. I'm also new to the forums, so hello! :D

Anyways, getting to the issue; I do not seem to be able to access internet through my data connections. Wi-Fi connection is fine, I can get internet through that, but 4G and LTE do not work for me. Connection bar is still present when connected to 4G, but the Upload/Download arrows are both unlit. I am connected to the network, I'm pretty sure, just not receiving any internet. Opening an internet page pops a "Webpage not Available" to me.

I talked to a customer support associate through the live support chat on Rogers website, to see if it was an error on their end. Last time this happened to me it was because they weren't provisioning properly.

Unfortunately, the associate this time did not help, and told me the only solution was to reset to factory settings. I've only had the phone for about 2 weeks, and already, I must reset it? Ridiculous. I'm not planning on resetting the phone as I already have stored information (Contacts, dates, etc.) on it.

I'm with Rogers, Android Version 4.0.3, Software number 1.73.631.1 if that helps.

If anyone has a solution to this, I'd much appreciate some help. ;)

I wish I knew that network better... I'm assuming they use the sim card with the phone? If so you may want to see if a local store will swap it out.. Not so much that the card is bad but they have to reg it and activate services and whatnot... It might just bypass support having to find the problem on their end.

I'm starting to see that "factory reset" is the new "reload windows" answers for techs that don't know the answer. I honestly cant see how a factory reset would fix anything but I could be wrong....

As far as the contacts and dates... if you have not already do yourself a favor and import all your contacts and calenders into a Google account or some sort of exchange/IMAP service. It makes resets, swapping phones, and lost/damaged phones way easier to handle.

@SimplyBK - I received the HTC One X from Rogers last Monday (11June2012). I can't confirm I've experienced the same issues as you. All-in-all, my experience has been great, regardless if I am connected via WiFi, LTE, or 4G.

Do you Live in a LTE area? 4G is actually HSPA+. The only LTE areas that I know of are in Ottawa and Toronto. Also I bought a One X international and I didn't get any data at first. I could still call and text but no data. I fixed it by putting filling out the APN (Access Point Names)

Internet connection problems usually have a background in relation to the apps we use to try an improve our battery. To make it simple the battery saver apps. If you have a battery saver uninstall it for some time and reboot the phone to see if it works. The battery savers usually play with the internet and somehow disconnect it when you need it most. So if you have a battery saver, remove it. It worked for me!!
