Help Internet Connection not working since software update

Hi,

I downloaded a software update last week (not sure of the details, but probably was that one mentioned in a thread from a few days ago). Anyway my problem is that the internet no longer works. Wi-Fi is fine, but if I am away from a wifi region any website I go to returns errors such as "Web Page Not Available" or something similar.

Prior to the software download I used to turn on some setting in the "Wireless and Networks" settings area, however I do not remember what this setting was called other than it was a box that was checked on the "Wireless and Networks" settings page and did not have to be navigated to once you were had entered "Wireless and Networks".

Since the software update the order of the different options on the "Wireless and Networks" page has changed around, but none of the available options seem to work.

What settings do I need to turn on in order to access the internet outside of a WiFi area?

Apologies for the ramble.

Cheers

Are you referring to your mobile data connection (3G)?

Menu > Settings > Wireless & networks > Mobile network should be checked.

Menu > Settings > Wireless & networks > Mobile networks > Access Point Names > Menu > Reset to default, and that should reset these settings to what the new softwar version provides, if it does.

Depending on how you want to use mobile data/3G you may want to check 'Enable always-on mobile data', too (see above under Mobile networks.)

If the update has altered your APN settings so that they won't work, then you may have to call your network provider for them as they will be unique to each carrier.

I had the same problem which I assumed was associated with the software update. Then I remembered I had recently installed the 'What'sApp' application. Once deleted normal service was resumed!
