Help Internet without a android account

I'm in the UK and just got a droid 3 from the US. I'm just testing out everything works as it is used and I get signal when I use the "global" setting, but I don't get internet. I haven't signed into my google account on it yet and I can't remember from when I first got my current Milestone whether I needed to sign into my google account before I could use the internet.

So should the net be working without me signing in yet?

If it is a Verizon Droid 3, I believe the issue may be that Verizon locks the SIM card so that only the bundled Vodafone SIM works in the slot. You may need to pay for an unlock code (if the phone was not SIM unlocked before you bought it.) Verizon will provide unlock codes to their own customers who are in good standing - long-term customers with no billing issues.

If it's already SIM unlocked, perhaps the APNs are incorrect? I must confess I know little about these issues, but you may find more help over at the xda-developer forums: Motorola Droid 3 - xda-developers
