Invalid destination address

My wife, son, and daughter have iPhone's and I prefer the Samsung. When trying to send a picture to my sons phone it gives me an error that reads Invalid destination address. I have this problem only with his contact. Also I noticed that in my contact list his contact is blue...?
What seems to be the issue?

to be honest anytime i send a text message to an iphone, most of the time there is some kind of issue where its shows up late or not at all or i have gotten that same message as well. its a crap shoot with iphones......for me at least.
 
Since you're not having the same problem with your wife and daughter, perhaps the issue isn't necessarily with your phone but rather your son hasn't enabled SMS/MMS on his iPhone?

The issue being, the iMessage app defaults to using Apple's iMessage texting protocol and Apple refuses to permit other platforms to use it. That would be fine if everyone used an iPhone but of course that's not a reality. The iMessage app does however include secondary support for SMS/MMS, the two texting protocols that most other texting services rely upon. It 'might' be a matter where your wife and daughter already have this enabled but your son's phone does not.

This makes sense! I will check his phone to see if that's the problem!
 
Just to confirm, the issue is just a matter where photo attachments with text messages to your son that are failing, but otherwise texting exchanges with him (no attachments, just texting) things work out OK?

If there are issues with texting with him with or without photos, I'm assuming you've already double-checked the Contacts list in your phone and his contact info is correct. No inadvertently added space characters or anything like that. But if the problem is just when it involves photo attachments, does it happen when when you're using WiFi or mobile data? Sometimes it requires you to be on mobile data (especially when it involves one phone being on a different carrier) -- unlike email, attachments get transferred differently when it involves different carriers. (Email involves messages being stored on mail servers and work through server <> client exchanges, but texting involves messages being more ephemeral and temporary.)
 
You are correct there is only an issue with sending photos to him.
Also, what I have noticed is that his contact when looking through the contacts within the message + app to select his contact is blue whereas everyone else's is black, with exception to a couple of others.
 
Did you notice whether you're phone is connected to WiFi or mobile data when these photo messages are failing?

This is a very low-tech suggestion, but have you tried creating a new entry for him in your contacts? Just name it any old thing, not identical to the other entry, and try sending photos. Does it work?
 
Then I'll just repeat what I posted previously, texting itself just doesn't have the same compatibility as emailing does. There are a lot more issues texting services intentionally create themselves to limit interactions with each other. Sending a photo anyone else using email is a seamless process, sending a photo (MMS) using texting is 'usually' going to work but it can be a lot more problematic.
Try enabling mobile data when you're sending your son photos and see if that works out more consistently.
