iOS data detectors - android equivalent?

What is the feature of "data detectors"? Does it just let you know what apps are using how much data? If so that is already built into Android.

Menu -> System Settings -> data usage

it is used to detect dates, phone numbers, etc in emails, messages.

eg email says meeting next friday at 9 am - on ios clicking this gives option to add to calender and knows what "next friday" means.

Not sure if its still there unless perhaps in a third party app. Isn't the the feature which Apple sued HTC for having? The ability to recognize data in sms and email?

My manager just sent me an email with his new phone number (complete coincidence), and a the phone number was detected and made clickable in the default gmail app automatically.
